Discord Speakers
This project was conducted as part of an Emotional Design Class during my undergraduate degree. Beginning with the emotion of Strength, I struggled to find designs which would embody this feeling for my design. I began with solid, construction materials and geometric shapes. Realizing that I still was not capturing the essence of the emotion I was chasing, I instead chose to focus on the emotion I was dealing with - discord with my product. That discord lead to the 6-face Discord Speaker Cube. The speaker had two play modes, Harmony Mode - which would play only the faces facing the room, or Discord Mode - all 6 faces playing in their facing directions, creating a distortion of the sound.
